Peripsychoda iranica sp. n. (Diptera, Psychodidae) with comments to the genus and redescriptions of included speciesActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 189-208
Abstract: The genus Peripsychoda Enderlein, 1935 is qualified and the systematic position of this Palaearctic taxon is discussed. Differential diagnosis as well as distribution of all included species are presented. P. iranica sp. n. is described and figured on the basis of males from North Iran. Males and females of P. auriculata (Curt.) and male of P. fusca (Macq.) are redescribed on the basis of material from Czechoslovakia, diagnoses and comments on bionomy are given, all literary data are summarized. New synonymy is proposed: P. zanqtieri Sara, 1952 syn . n . = P. auriculata Curtis, 1839. Arguments counter-lectotype-designation in the case of P. auriculata (Curt.) are advanced.

Abstract: Jungiella hygrophila sp . n. is described from Czechoslovakia and J. (J.) soleata (Walk.) as well as J. (J.) valachica (Vail.) are redescribed. All important diagnostic characters are figured and data about type-material of mentioned species are given. Full synonymies and references to genus Jungiella Vail., subgenus Jungiella s. str. and its three Czechoslovak species are quoted as well as differential diagnoses, known bionomy and distribution; some taxonomical problems are discussed.
Ježek J.Contribution to the knowdge of Panimerus Eat. (Diptera, Psychodidae) in CzechoslovakiaActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 225-248
Abstract: The author gives a small part of the results of studies on moths flies (Psychodidae) of Czechoslovakia. 4 species from the genus Panimerus Eat. are redescribed and figured and the morphology of a gynandromorph from this genus is included. Lectotype and paralectotypes of P. notabtlis (Eat.) were designated in this paper. Differential diagnosis or only diagnosis of all mentioned taxons are included as well as bionomy, distribution and full synonymy. P. verneysicus Vail. is new to Czechoslovakia.

Abstract: Relationships of Empeda to Cheilotrichia s. str. and Gonempeda are discussed and the monophyly of this group is claimed. European Empeda species are divided into two species-groups according to the venational characters . Two new species are described , C. (E.) caerulea sp , n. from Czechoslovakia and Austria and C. (E. ) mendli sp. n. from Portugal and Sardinia , and 6 species, viz. C. (E.) areolata, C. (E.) minima, C. (E.) affinis, C. (E.) cinerascens, C. (E.) neglecta and C. (E.) staryi, are rederscribed, with special attention to the structure of the male genitalia. Lectotype of C. (E.) neglecta is designated. Detailed illustrations of the male genitalia are provided for all species treated and a key for identification is attached.

R.Results of the Czechoslovak-Iranian entomological expeditions to Iran 1970, 1973 and 1977. Coleoptera, CleridaeActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 293-305
Abstract: The representatives of the family Cleridae collected by the expedition team of the Entomological Department of the National Museum (Nat. Hist.) Prague, Czechoslovakia, during three entomological expeditlons to Iran (1970, 1973, 1977) were examined. The collected material amounted to 361 specimens. Of these 353 individuals, i. e. 97.78 per cent of accumulated total were identified to the species. 11 species, 2 of them. (Tilloidea pubescens, Winklerius grandis) new to the fauna of Iran, and one new to science were ascertained. The new species, Trichodes jelineki sp. n. is described within this paper, the description of it is based upon surface characters as well as male terminalia, and is given jointly with photographs, detailed morphological pictures, differential diagnosis in a tabellar form and discussion. Comments on some other species are given. The remnant of the material (8 specimens, i. e. 2.22 per cent of the total of material) promises additional scientific novelties (see the section Supplement) and will be evaluated in a subsequent separate treatise.
Picka J.Zweiter Beitrag zur Kenntnis der Familie Tenebrionidae Bulgariens (Coleoptera)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 307-309
Abstract: Authors's supplement to his previous paper of 1983 recording 8 species new to Tenebrionid fauna of Bulgaria. For completion there are listed further records of rare species recently discovered in southwest and south Bulgaria from material collected by Miroslav Mikat of Hradec Králové Museum and Dr. Antonín Pfeffer of Prague.
Máca J.Amiota (Phortica) goetzi sp.n. (Diptera, Drosophilidae) with faunistic notes to Drosophilidae, Odiniidae and Periscelididae from southeastern Europe and TurkeyActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 311-320
Abstract: Amiota (Ptiortica) goetzi sp. n. is described from Turkey and altogether 21 new records of Drosophilidae species are given from individual countries (Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, European USSR, Turkey); some localities in Yugoslavia were also investigated. The new records from some countries encompass the species mentioned from there (without concrete locality) as "unpublished" by Bächli and Rocha Pite (1982). Periscelididae and Odiniidae (one species each) are recorded for the first time from Bulgaria. The localities investigated by author are characterized briefly as for the main components of their vegetation. The highland localities (especially in Roumania) were found to harbour some stenoecious forest species of Drosophilidae; the coastal localities (including those little affected by man) showed high proportion of synanthropic species of this family. Convenience of the collecting methods used and of the collecting season are critically appreciated. Stigmatomyces scaptomyzae Thaxter, a parasite fungus of Scaptomyza pallida Zett., is given from Roumania. A case of aberrant sex ratio of Drosophila simulans Sturt. and D. subobscura Collin is recorded.
Fremuth J.Ergebnisse der tschechoslowakisch-iranischen entomologischen Expeditionen nach dem iran 1970, 1973 und 1977. Coleoptera, Curculionidae: 1. Teil: CleonlnaeActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 42: 321-348
Abstract: In the present paper are listed 28 genera with 92 species of the weevil subfamily Cleoninae from Iran. Especially well represented are genera Larinus (31 species) and Lixus (20 species). Five species are described as new to science: Larinus jelineki, Larinus terminassianae, Larinus affinis, Eurysternus vossi and Chromosomus persicus. Taxonomic position of the genus Entymetopus Faust in relation to the genus Eurysternus Faust is clarified. Geographic distribution of all species is given. On the other hand, there exists still many gaps in our knowledge of their bionomy. Most species belong either to mediterranean, or to central asiatic faunas. Hypolixus spec. aff. nubilosus Boh. and Neocleonus sannio (Herbst ) belong apparently to the sahelian fauna and occur - apart from south Iran - also in Africa and in Arabia. To the endemic Iranian south belong: Larinus chaldeus Petri, Larinus iranensis Voss, Isomerus pfaundleri Zumpt, Bodemeyeria plicata Reitter and Chromosomus persicus sp. n.

Abstract: This paper is based on the study of more than 440 specimens of Tridactylidae taken by three expeditions of National Museum (Nat. Hist.), Praha to Iran in 1970, 1973 and 1977. This material is composed of five species - three of which are new records for the Iranian fauna - belonging to two genera. At present there are listed from Iran 3 species only (i. e. Tridactylus fasciatus Guer., Xya variegata Latr . and X. japonica (Haan ), occurence of the last named species (Mirzayan 1959: 24 -Tridactylus japonicus Haan; Hashemi 1976: 120 - T. japonicus Haan ) should be verified additionally.
