Canuschiza of Socotra Island (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae) Part 1. Canuschiza insularis species group

Abstract: Within the Socotran chafer genus Canuschiza Lacroix, 1999 (Coleoptera:
Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae: Schizonychini) two species groups are recognized,
Canuschiza insularis Lacroix, 1999 species group and C. minuta Lacroix,
1999 species group. A revision of C. insularis species group is provided.
Canuschiza insularis is redescribed and the following seven new species are
described within this group: Canuschiza adah sp. nov., C. croton sp. nov., C.
dracaena sp. nov., C. firmihin sp. nov., C. hagher sp. nov., C. jatropha sp.
nov., and C. skand sp. nov. An identification key to males and females of the
species group is provided, and photographs illustrate external morphology and
male genitalia.
