Abstract: A new genus and species of fossil braconid wasps (Ichneumonoidea: Braconidae)
are described and figured from Early Eocene (Ypresian) Cambay amber (Gujarat,
India). Trichelyon tadkeshwarense Ortega-Blanco & Engel gen. et sp. nov. is
described from two females belonging to the Rhysipolini (Exothecinae), a tribe
of considerable complexity and debatable classificatory placement, and
representing the first, definitive fossils for this lineage of Braconidae. The
fossils are compared with modern rhysipoline diversity and the complexity of the
tribe is briefly discussed.
