Lixus davidiani, a new weevil species from Aras Valley (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Lixinae)

Abstract: Lixus davidiani sp. nov. is described from Aras Valley in Nahcivan (Azerbaijan)
and northeastern Turkey. Adults were collected on Lythrum salicaria L.
(Lythraceae) in northeastern Turkey. It was observed that females laid eggs in
stem. The new species is assigned to the Lixus iridis species-group in the
subgenus Eulixus Reitter, 1916, compared with related species, and morphological
characters are presented.
