A predicted new Geotrupes from the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, and a description of the male of Geotrupes lobatus (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae)

Abstract: Geotrupes nuntiatus Kohlmann & Arriaga-Jiménez, sp. nov., is
described from the Mixteca shield, in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. Its
habitat, distribution, and ecology are discussed. The male of Geotrupes
lobatus Howden, 1974 is described for the first time. An updated key of
the genus for the state of Oaxaca is presented to facilitate identification.
Photographs of the specimens, diagnostic features, and their aedeagi, as well as
distribution maps, are also included.
