Abstract: The Oriental and Austro-Pacific stink bug genus Amblycara Bergroth, 1891
(Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Pentatominae: Pentatomini) is redescribed
and revised. Two species are recognized: the type species, A. gladiatoria (St?l,
1876), is redescribed and recorded for the first time from India, Laos,
Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesian and Papuan parts of New Guinea, New Caledonia,
and Fiji; A. innocens sp. nov. is described as new based on specimens from
Taiwan and the Philippines (Palawan). A lectotype is designated for A.
gladiatoria. The taxonomic placement, systematic relationships, and zoogeography
of the genus and its included species are discussed.
