Sychra Oldřich, Kounek Filip, Papoušek Ivo, Čapek Miroslav, Cárdenas-Callirgos Jorge Manuel, Franco Sebastian, Literák IvanChewing lice (Phthiraptera: Amblycera et Ischnocera) from wrens (Passeriformes: Troglodytidae), with description of a new species of MyrsideaActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 1-27
Abstract: A total of 114 individuals of 14 wren species (Aves: Passeriformes: Troglodytidae) were examined. Nineteen birds (17 %) of six species were parasitised with 292 chewing lice (mean intensity = 15.4 lice per bird) belonging to three genera ? Brueelia Kéler, 1936, Penenirmus Clay & Meinertzhagen, 1938 (Ischnocera: Philopteridae) and Myrsidea Waterston, 1915 (Amblycera: Menoponidae). Data on the occurrence of chewing lice on wrens, including geographical distributions and some parasitological parameters ? such as prevalence and mean intensity ? are updated and discussed. A description and illustrations are given for Myrsidea fasciata sp. nov. from Campylorhynchus fasciatus (Swainson, 1837) from Costa Rica. Penenirmus albiventris (Scopoli, 1763) is redescribed from Troglodytes troglodytes (Linnaeus, 1758) (from the Czech Republic and Slovakia) and from T. aedon Vieillot, 1809 (from Peru). Intraspecific morphological variation of P. albiventris is discussed, and detailed figures are given. A portion of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene was sequenced from some species of Myrsidea and Penenirmus in order to assess their relative genetic divergence. An updated list of all species of lice recorded from wrens, including their geographic distribution, and a host-louse list are also given.
Minaei KambizA new species of Eremiothrips from Iran (Thysanoptera: Thripidae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 29-34
Abstract: Eremiothrips eshghii sp. nov. is described from Fars province, south of Iran, from specimens collected on a species of Ephedra (Ephedraceae). This new species seems to be related to E. efflatouni (Priesner, 1965) in having no long setae on the posterior angles of the pronotum in both sexes, as well as in the presence of biserially toothed processes on the tergum IX of males.
Seljak Gabrijel, Malenovský IgorPreimaginal stages and biology of Bactericera lyrata (Hemiptera: Psylloidea: Triozidae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 35-46
Abstract: The egg and fifth instar immature of the jumping plant-louse Bactericera lyrata Seljak, Malenovský & Lauterer, 2008 (Hemiptera: Psylloidea: Triozidae) are described and illustrated for the first time based on material collected in Slovenia and reared on Potentilla reptans (Rosaceae) which is confirmed as a host plant. The morphology of the fifth instar immature is compared with closely related species and a key for the identification of the fifth instar immatures of west Palaearctic species of Bactericera Puton, 1876 associated with Rosaceae is provided. Bactericera lyrata has three generations per year in Slovenia with adults overwintering. It is unknown whether they migrate to conifers. The colour dimorphism of adults of the summer and overwintering generations is illustrated and briefly discussed.

Kment Petr, Kocorek AnnaAfromenotes hirsuta, a new genus and species of Eumenotini from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Dinidoridae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 109-131
Abstract: Afromenotes hirsuta gen. & sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Dinidoridae: Eumenotini) is described from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and compared with its only close relative, the Oriental genus Eumenotes Westwood, 1844. Afromenotes hirsuta thus represents the first record of Eumenotini from the Afrotropical Region. The external efferent system of the metathoracic scent glands of E. obscura Westwood, 1846 is described in detail, and distribution and host plants of Eumenotes species are reviewed. A list of known host plants for larval Dinidoridae is compiled from literature. Eumenotes obscura is recorded for the first time from Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and several territories within India (Uttarakhand), Indonesia (Bali, Mentawai Islands) and Malaysia (Kelantan, Sabah, Tioman Island); E. pacao Esaki, 1922 is recorded from Vietnam.

A lectotype is designated for A. gladiatoria. The taxonomic placement, systematic relationships, and zoogeography of the genus and its included species are discussed.
Clarkson Bruno, Albertoni Fabiano F., Fikáček MartinTaxonomy and biology of the bromeliad-inhabiting genus Lachnodacnum (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae: Sphaeridiinae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 157-194
Abstract: The water scavenger beetle genus Lachnodacnum Orchymont, 1937 sensu Hansen (1991) is revised. The three species that had previously been placed in the genus, L. luederwaldti Orchymont, 1937 (southern Brazil), L. saundersi Orchymont, 1937 (northern Brazil) and L. urichi (Scott, 1912) (Trinidad and Tobago), are redescribed in detail and illustrated with habitus photographs, line drawings, and SEM micrographs of relevant diagnostic characters. Lachnodacnum urichi is found not to be congeneric with the remaining two species. It is transferred to the genus Phaenostoma Orchymont, 1937 (as P. urichi (Scott, 1912) comb. nov.) and the genus Psilodacnum Orchymont, 1937 previously erected for this species is removed from the synonymy with Lachnodacnum and placed to synonymy with Phaenostoma. The preimaginal stages of Lachnodacnum luederwaldti, including the egg case, all three larval instars and pupa, are described. Basic information on the biology of the species is provided based on field observations and rearing in the laboratory. The species is found to be aquatic, living in water tanks of terrestrial and epiphytic bromeliads. An updated identification key to adults of the Neotropical genera of the Coelostomatini is also provided.

Skuhrovec Jiří, Batelka Jan Taxonomy of the Cape Verde endemic weevil genus Dinas (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae). Part I: Description of a new subgenus, and two new species from S?o Nicolau IslandActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 315-336
Abstract: An extensive material of the Cape Verde endemic weevil genus Dinas Wollaston, 1867 (Curculionidae: Entiminae) is revised. Two subgenera are recognized based on the external morphology and biology of adults. Microspina subgen. nov. is established for the group with smaller-sized adults which are flower-eaters adapted to habitats with Macaronesian endemic flora; 10 species are transferred to the subgenus: D. (M.) angusticeps Roudier, 1957, D. (M.) angustula Wollaston, 1867, D. (M.) elliptipennis Wollaston, 1867, D. (M.) heckeli Geisthardt, 1995, D. (M.) micans Roudier, 1957, D. (M.) obsita Wollaston, 1867, D. (M.)  pallipes Roudier, 1957, D. (M.) punctipennis Roudier, 1957, D. (M.)  sitonaeformis Wollaston, 1867, and D. (M.) viridisquamea Roudier, 1957. Contrary, adults of Dinas s. str. were found on the ground and under stones only. The Dinas fauna of S?o Nicolau Island is studied in detail. Dinas (Microspina) afonsoi sp. nov. and D. (Dinas) strakai sp. nov. are described from the eastern part of the island. The types and new material of the remaining two species from the western part of the island, D. (Microspina) angusticeps and D. (Microspina) sitonaeformis, are reviewed, and lectotype for the latter is designated. An identification key to all species known from S?o Nicolau is provided. The origin of Dinas and its biogeographic affinities are discussed. Distributional pattern of the genus within the archipelago, particularly in S?o Nicolau are commented. An updated list of all known Dinas species is provided.
Stejskal Robert, Trnka Filip, Skuhrovec JiříBiology and morphology of immature stages of Coniocleonus nigrosuturatus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Lixinae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 337-354
Abstract: Mature larvae and pupae of Coniocleonus (Plagiographus) nigrosuturatus (Goeze, 1777) (Curculionidae: Lixinae: Cleonini) are described and compared with three other cleonine taxa with known larvae. The biology of the species was studied in Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. Common Stork's-bill (Erodium cicutarium) (Geraniaceae) is identified as a host plant of both larvae and adults of this weevil. The weevil is very likely monophagous, and previous records of thyme (Thymus sp., Lamiaceae) as the host plant hence appear incorrect. Coniocleonus nigrosuturatus prefers dry, sunny places in grassland habitats, with sparse vegetation, bare ground and patchily growing host plants. Overwintering beetles emerge in early spring (March), feed and mate on the host plants. The highest activity of adults was observed from mid-April to mid-May. Larvae live in the soil in a vertical tunnel near the host plant and feed externally on the base of the stem. Usually, a single larva was observed at an attacked plant, however, sometimes up to 3 larvae were found. At the beginning of July, the larvae pupate in a closed earthen cell. A reared adult emerged in the laboratory at the end of July. We suppose that part of the population overwinters in pupation cells, although some adults leave the cells at the end of summer. They then most likely spend some time feeding on the host plants and look for suitable shelters in which to overwinter later.

Roháček JindřichThe identity and family affiliation of Scelomyza hirticornis (Diptera: Opomyzidae, Anthomyzidae), with a new checklist of Afrotropical AnthomyzidaeActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 383-398
Abstract: The female holotype of Scelomyza hirticornis Séguy, 1938 from Kenya is revised and the species transferred from Opomyzidae to Anthomyzidae. It is redescribed in detail based on partly reconstructed characters of the damaged holotype. The genus Scelomyza Séguy, 1938 is redescribed and its relationships are discussed with the conclusion that it is probably related to Apterosepsis Richards, 1962, a strongly modified apterous genus from Tanzania. A new checklist of Afrotropical Anthomyzidae is provided.
Macháčková Lenka, Fikáček MartinCatalogue of the type specimens deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague, Czech Republic. PolyneopteraActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 54(1): 399-450
Abstract: Type specimens from the collection of the polyneopteran insect orders (Dermaptera, Blattodea, Orthoptera, Phasmatodea) deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague are catalogued. We provide precise information about types of 100 taxa (5 species of Dermaptera, 3 species of Blattodea, 4 species of Phasmatodea, 55 species of Caelifera, and 33 species of Ensifera), including holotypes of 38 taxa. The year of publication of Calliptamus tenuicercis anatolicus Mařan, 1952 and Calliptamus tenuicercis iracus Mařan, 1952  are corrected. The authorship of the names traditionally ascribed to J. Obenberger is discussed in detail. Only the name Podisma alpinum carinthiacum Obenberger, 1926 is available since the publication by Obenberger (1926a). 'Stenobothrus (Stauroderus) biguttulus ssp. $ bicolor Charp. 1825' and 'Stenobothrus (Stauroderus) ssp. $ collinus Karny' sensu Obenberger (1926a,b) refer to Gryllus bicolor Charpentier, 1825 and Stauroderus biguttulus var. collina Karny, 1907, respectively, which both have to be considered available already since their original descriptions by Charpentier (1825) and Karny (1907).
