Malenovský Igor, Lauterer Pavel, Labina Eugenia, Burckhardt DanielJumping plant-lice (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) of AfghanistanActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 1-22Abstract: The psylloid fauna of Afghanistan is reviewed comprising, 32 identified species, 15 of which are recorded from the country for the first time, including Agonoscena klapperichi sp. nov. (Psyllidae: Rhinocolinae), which is formally described and illustrated. Additional illustrations are provided for Craspedolepta manica Baeva, 1978, Cacopsylla cf. nasuta (Horváth, 1904) and Trioza urticae Linnaeus, 1758. Another 5 species are represented by insufficient material and cannot be currently identified. The bulk of the examined material comes from four expeditions by J. Klapperich, O. Jakeš, M. Daniel and E. S. Sugonyaev in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The psylloid fauna of Afghanistan remains poorly known and additional species can be expected. The biogeographical relationships and economic importance of the Afghan psylloid fauna are briefly discussed. In addition, a new record of Psyllopsis securicola Loginova, 1963 from Iraq is provided.

Carpintero Diego Leonardo, Dellapé Pablo MatiasNeotropical Scolopini (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae): new taxa, diagnostic characters and a key to the genera of the tribeActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 49-66Abstract: The tribe Scolopini is characterized by having males with uradenia consisting of paired glands with either a single or paired openings on abdominal sternum III or IV (exceptionally on V), and females with copulatory tubes (not in Calliodina), and by a midventral abdominal copulatory site. The tribe is composed of two subtribes, Scolopina with four genera and Calliodina with seven genera. Two new genera of Scolopini are proposed: Guayascoris foreroi, a new genus and species of Calliodina from Ecuador, and Ameroscolopa, a new genus of Scolopina including the two American species of Scoloposcelis Fieber, 1864: Ameroscolopa flavicornis (Reuter, 1871) comb. nov. and A. basilicus (Drake & Harris, 1926) comb. nov. Diagnostic characters, geographic distribution, species included, and a key to all Neotropical genera of the tribe are also given.

Fikáček Martin, Prokin Alexander, Angus Robert B., Ponomarenko Alexander, Yue Yanli, Ren Dong, Prokop Jakub Revision of Mesozoic fossils of the helophorid lineage of the superfamily Hydrophiloidea (Coleoptera: Polyphaga)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 89-127Abstract: A revision of the Mesozoic fossils belonging to the helophorid lineage of the superfamily Hydrophiloidea is performed and an adapted classification is suggested based on the phylogenetic analysis combining modern and fossil taxa of the lineage. Three genera are revealed as basal extinct Mesozoic clades of the helophorid lineage: Hydrophilopsia Ponomarenko, 1987, Laetopsia gen. nov. (adult forms) and Cretotaenia Ponomarenko, 1977 (larval form). Mesosperchus Ponomarenko, 1977 stat. nov. is resurrected from synonymy with Zetemenos Bode, 1953 and established as a formal subgenus of Helophorus Fabricius, 1775 containing probable stem taxa of that genus. Mesohelophorus Ponomarenko, 1977, stat. nov., is downgraded to a subgenus of Helophorus. Two new species are described: Helophorus (Mesosperchus) inceptivus sp. nov. (Sharteg, Mongolia, late Jurassic) and H. (M.) yixianus sp. nov. (Yixian Formation, China, Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary). Mesohelophorus elongatus Ponomarenko, 1990, syn. nov., is synonymised with Mesosperchus tarsalis Ponomarenko, 1977. The latter species and Hydrophilopsia gracilis Prokin, Ren & Fikáček, 2010 are transferred to Helophorus (Mesosperchus), resulting in the following new combinations: Helophorus (Mesosperchus) tarsalis (Ponomarenko, 1977), comb. nov. and H. (M.) gracilis (Prokin, Ren & Fikáček, 2010), comb. nov. Mesohelophorus sibiricus Ponomarenko, 1977 is transferred to Helophorus (Mesohelophorus) and the resulting secondary homonymy with Helophorus sibiricus (Motschulsky, 1860) is removed by proposing a new substitute name Helophorus palaeosibiricus nom. nov. for the former taxon. Hydrophilopsia baissensis Ponomarenko, 1987, H. bontsaganica Prokin, 2009, H. hydraenoides Prokin, Ren & Fikáček, 2010, H. mongolica Ponomarenko, 1987 and H. shatrovskiyi Prokin, Ren & Fikáček, 2010 are transferred to Laetopsia gen. nov. The inclusion of the fossil taxa into the helophorid lineage of the Hydrophiloidea made the slight adaptation of the diagnosis of the genus Helophorus necessary. Six fossil species included previously into the genera Helophorus, Mesosperchus and Mesohelophorus are excluded from the helophorid lineage: Mesosperchus notatus Ponomarenko, 1977, and M. schultzi Ponomarenko, 1985 (both transferred to Polyphaga incertae sedis), Mesohelophorus mongolicus Ponomarenko, 1986 (transferred to Buprestoidea), Mesosperchus angulatus Ponomarenko, 1985 (confirmed as not belonging to the Hydrophiloidea), Tychon antiquum (Giebel, 1856) (confirmed as Coleoptera incertae sedis) and Helophoropsis brodiei (Giebel, 1856) (transferred to Coleoptera incertae sedis). The genus Zetemenos Bode, 1953 is transferred to Coleoptera incertae sedis based on the examination of its type species, Z. sexlineatus Bode, 1953.
Fikáček Martin, Leschen Richard A. B., Newton Alfred F., Gunter Nicole Horelophus walkeri rediscovered: adult morphology and notes on biology (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 129-146Abstract: Horelophus walkeri Orchymont, 1913, the single representative of the enigmatic hydrophilid subfamily Horelophinae, is redescribed and illustrated based on recently collected specimens and its external morphology is briefly compared with other groups of Hydrophilidae. A list of known specimens of H. walkeri is presented and its distribution is summarized.
Lackner TomášRevision of the genus Xenonychus (Coleoptera: Histeridae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 147-159Abstract: Genus Xenonychus Wollaston, 1864 of the subfamily Saprininae is revised herein. It now contains three species: X. tridens (Jacquelin du Val, 1852), X. aralocaspius Kryzhanovskij, 1976 in Kryzhanovskij & Reichardt (1976) and X. somaliensis (Thérond, 1963) comb. nov. (transferred from Styphrus Motschulsky, 1845). The three species differ only in minor external characters. Xenonychus tridens and X. aralocaspius are most readily separated based on their male terminalia, especially aedeagi. All three species are diagnosed and their morphological differences are illustrated using SEM photographs. Male genitalia of X. aralocaspius and X. tridens are illustrated, and a key to the species is given.

Makranczy György Nomenclatural changes removing secondary homonymy in the genus Oxytelus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae)Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 193-205Abstract: Some nomenclatural issues are resolved in the genus Oxytelus Gravenhorst, 1802, into which the genera Anisopsidius Gravenhorst, 1802, Anisopsis Gravenhorst, 1802, Hoplitodes Gravenhorst, 1802 and Paroxytelopsis Gravenhorst, 1802 were moved by Makranczy (2006). All affected taxa are listed, and the resulting taxonomic issues are discussed. New names are provided for three junior secondary homonyms: Oxytelus hermani nom. nov. for Anisopsis longicornis Cameron, 1928, O. machadoanus nom. nov. for Paranisopsis machadoi Fagel, 1960, and O. renominatus nom. nov. for Paranisopsis confusa Fagel, 1960. Paranisopsis congoensis Fagel, 1960 also became a junior secondary homonym by the above generic synonymy, but it is here tentatively placed in synonymy with Oxytelus guineensis (Bernhauer, 1932). A gender change of the genus name requires adjustment in the species name endings of 10 taxa, and the following new combinations are proposed: Oxytelus angolensis (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. cameroni (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. carinatus (Fauvel, 1904) comb. nov., O. dorylinus (Cameron, 1933) comb. nov., O. eichelbaumi (Bernhauer, 1927) comb. nov., O. flexuosus (Fauvel, 1904) comb. nov., O. guineensis (Bernhauer, 1932) comb. nov., O. incertus (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. leleupi (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. luteus (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. minimus (Bernhauer, 1927) comb. nov., O. motoensis (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. myrmecophilus (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. nigeriensis (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. ornatus (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. quadricollis (Bernhauer, 1932) comb. nov., O. rugulipennis (Bernhauer, 1934) comb. nov., O. sculptiventris (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. strictus (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. tottenhami (Fagel, 1960) comb. nov., O. tuberculatus (Cameron, 1938) comb. nov., and O. uelensis (Bernhauer, 1927) comb. nov. Two records published after Fagel’s (1960) revision were checked and found to be misidentifications. For all species the available illustrations of diagnostic characters are enumerated and their distributions are summarized. New records are provided for 13 species, originating from Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.
Král David, Hájek Jiří Haroldius jechaer sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) from Yunnan, ChinaActa Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae 52(1): 207-215Abstract: Haroldius jechaer sp. nov. from Yunnan province, China, is described and illustrated. The new species resembles H. stevensi Arrow, 1931 in having a large body (length 3.8 mm) and a small semi-elliptic bordered area near the base of the pronotum. Both species can be separated mainly by their different colour, punctation and macrosetation of the dorsal surface. An updated annotated checklist of all described species of Haroldius Boucomont, 1914 is added.
